Sharp Announces Annual Smartphone Sales Target of Five Mln

Sharp announced on November 15, 2010 that the company aims to sell five million Smartphones annually in the Japanese market in a bid to tap surging Smartphone demands, according to the Japan Today. It is reported that Sharp plans to take up approximately 30% share of the domestic Smartphone market in two to three years. Sharp is projected to launch Smartphones with functions tailored to Japanese customers' needs, such as electronic money function. Sharp's 3D glass-free Smartphones are expected to be released in winter this year in Japan, and the company said that it also aims to sell the 3D models overseas, according to the same source.
